Google Workspace mailboxes connect with Google sign-in from Email Accounts, after a one-time setup in your Google Admin Console. Personal @gmail.com addresses cannot use Google sign-in. They connect over SMTP with an app password instead.
Before you start
- You need a Google Workspace super admin for the one-time setup.
- Check how many mailboxes your plan allows. The trial allows one. See plans and the free trial.
Step 1: authorise Fuzegenai in Google Workspace
- In the sidebar, open Email Accounts and select Add Account.
- In Add Email Account, keep Google & Microsoft selected.
- Next to Workspace setup, select Set up.
- Step 1. Trust the OAuth app: copy the OAuth client ID, select Open App Access Control, add the app in your Admin Console and mark it Trusted.
- Step 2. Authorize Domain-Wide Delegation: select Open Domain-Wide Delegation, add a new entry, then paste the service account client ID and the scope list exactly as shown.
- Step 3. Verify: enter your Workspace admin email and select Test. Nothing is sent or stored.
When the test passes you see Verified, and Connect becomes available. This state is remembered in your browser, so on another device you may need to run Test again.
Step 2: connect and choose mailboxes
- Next to Connect Google account, select Connect.
- Sign in with Google. Use a super admin to list every user on your domain, or a single user to add only that mailbox.
- Approve the permissions.
- Back in Fuzegenai, Select accounts to add lists the users found on your domain. Tick the mailboxes you want, or Select all, then select the add button, which shows your count (for example Add 3 selected).
If your selection goes over your plan's mailbox limit, nothing is added. Reduce the selection or upgrade.
Permissions Google asks for
- Send email on your behalf.
- Read your email, which is how replies are detected.
- See your email address and basic profile.
- See the users on your domain (read only), to build the mailbox list.
- Read Google Postmaster Tools data for your domain.
Personal Gmail addresses
Google sign-in rejects @gmail.com and @googlemail.com addresses with "Only Google Workspace accounts can be connected." To use one, choose Add SMTP manually and enter a Google app password. See connecting Microsoft 365, Outlook and SMTP mailboxes.
What happens after connecting
Each mailbox appears in the Email Accounts table with its Status, Reputation, Health, DNS, Warmup and Daily Usage.
- New Google mailboxes start with a daily limit of 50 emails. See sending limits and daily caps.
- Fuzegenai checks the domain's SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX records and sets the mailbox reputation from the result. Fix anything failing with the SPF, DKIM and DMARC guide.
- A mailbox whose domain check is very poor is set to WARMING and enrolled in warmup. Campaigns do not send from a mailbox while it is WARMING. See domain warmup explained.
- A mailbox showing INACTIVE usually means Domain-Wide Delegation is not authorised correctly. Re-open Workspace setup, correct it and run Test again. Reactivation runs automatically when the test passes.
